Kelbrook 11-09-2016 – Leader Roy

“Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day”.  A late English summer’s day is what 11 Rossy Ramblers enjoyed: outstanding scenery, with fluffy clouds (a technical term!).  Setting off from Kelbrook, we reached Shuttleworth Moor, where we took our first break, with wide and extensive views.  Then on to the Pendle Way, passing the pub at Black Lane Ends, with more sweeping views over hills and valleys.

Our next stop was at the trig point on Knarrs Hill, where picnic benches enhanced our break, with long views and more fluffy clouds.  We then progressed past Earl Hall, Shaw Gate, and Jerusalem farms, coming to Kelbrook Moor, with masses of heather just slightly going off, and more panoramic views.

Then back to Kelbrook, passing a witch’s house, with a charming seated stone pixie present!  The finish at Café Cargo in Foulridge ending – as the song has it – “a perfect day”.
