Towneley Park & Walk Mill – 01/02/2026 – Leader Alex
Eight ramblers turned out for a varied 6 mile walk today.

Almost immediately we all commented that the weather was better than expected and it remained so throughout, with some commenting that it was “spring like” at times.

Following in part The Burnley Way we passed through woodland, under the railway and across the A671 onto Towneley Golf Course. After crossing via the Rabbit Walk we followed the edge of the park around to Pike Hill and Cliviger Laithe where we descended to Walk Mill via Barcroft Hall, dating from 1636, with views over Towneley Hall.

A short walk brought us back to the park where we had our break in front of the hall on benches adjacent to the cafe.

After our break we headed up via Foldy’s Cross and had a look at the site of the Towneley Park Music Pavilion.  Not much to see here now, but interestingly Gill informed us that her mother had played there.

It was then a short ascent into Copy Wood, crossing the main road again and back to the cars.

Thanks to all including Diana for the photos.

A lovely walk which ticked all the boxes. Thank you Alex.
To be clear, my mum was a beautiful violinist.

We were truly blessed with the weather. Thanks for organising that Alex.
