Annual Holiday – Sedbergh – 18-22 May 2026

33 went to Thorns Hall in Sedbergh, with a couple of extra day attenders, for 5 days of great walking. The weather was not too kind on 3 days but this did not dampen our spirits. Collectively a lot of miles were walked and the ascent mounted up.

Many thanks to all our wonderful walk leaders, who made this all possible for everyone. Thanks also to our photographers for providing a memorable record, and our back markers for closing gates and making sure no-one got left behind. A small number chose to take advantage of other local amenities on some days. We were well entertained by Mark preparing and hosting a quiz, even with a trophy, and to Rocky Ramblers who get better and better, with Robert making an excellent compere.

Special thanks go to Mark who sifted through hundreds of photos to select 8 for each walk and upload then to Flickr. There were 11 walks in total, summarised below.

Thorns Hall met our needs perfectly with great food, a well frequented bar and excellent staff.

Although this was a walking holiday, it was also very much about friendship and feeling so lucky to be a part of such a fantastic group.

What a pleasant way to spend 5 days – good company, good accommodation and staff who looked after us superbly, good food and plenty of it, with enough walking on hand to last a lifetime
