Baxenden pub walk 02-07-2026 – leader Diana

It has to be a pretty rare experience to be walking in east Lancashire and be quite oblivious of our industrial heritage. However this was what awaited 11 eager walkers as they set off out of Baxenden and headed for Rising Bridge, chivvied along by our leader Diana. On the hillside the panorama was described by one member as bucolic, because it was as follows …. directly ahead was the hulking mass of Pendle Hill, swiftly followed by Pen- y- gent and the rest st of the Yorkshire Dales to where they eventually merged with The Trough of Bowland to the North and West and all seeming to end with the ubiquitous Parlick Pike. Few things could be better, as this was essentially a very English evening. 

 

The issue of the doors to the Dog & Partridge being firmly shuttered failed to dampen the spirit, who knows but maybe the landlady had gone out to enjoy the scene.
