Foulridge – 22/07/2026 – Leader Jean

On a cloudy, but warm morning 14 ramblers met a Foulridge Wharf. After the obligatory start photo, we left the village, crossing the A56 towards Foulridge Upper Reservoir, following a path towards Keighley Rd. We followed the road down to a busy junction, passing an old Toll House, before crossing the road, and down to join Colne Water. We followed the river towards Carry Bridge, enjoying our elevenses on the way.

From the bridge our route continued uphill to reach the minor road, eventually arriving at Trawden. We walked through the Village passing cottages many with pretty gardens, to reach the Bowling Club admiring the colourful hanging baskets. Here we took a left turn, following a track to join a field path leading up to Little Laithe farm, continuing past Germany Farm. We arrived at Wycoller and our lunch stop, with picnic tables and toilets.

Reluctantly we left this sunny spot and continued along the Pendle Way towards Laneshaw Bridge.We recrossed Keighley Rd, up towards Lane Head, just beyond the school we picked up a path over fields, passing a trig point on our way to join a minor road by Colne Golf club.The road took us alongside the golf course, before we joined a path leading to a bridge over a rather long but almost dry ford.

Our final stretch took us past several small farms to eventually join a track back down to Foulridge and the car park. Several of the group had tea at the cafe on the Wharf.
