Monkroyd to Brierfield Linear – 21/08/2026 – Leader Diana
A BIT OF EVERYTHING
Monkroyd Bungalow occupies a bleak spot on the road from Colne to Keighley. Bleak or not it was here that a party of 5 began their bus-pass adventure and were soon taking a well earned break in historical Wyecoller, having already passed through an alpaca farm and a rather unpleasant patch of hawthorn/brambles and nettles. Undeterred 3 members discussed the meaning of a BENCH MARK adorning a cobble on the mixed track beneath Boulsworth Hill. No definitive answer was forthcoming. By now the tearoom/ice cream parlour at Happa was being mentioned, where 4 members indulged before pressing on to the old drinking fountain and War memorial by the bowling green in Briercliffe. From here it was all descent into Brierfield and the Black Sheep where coffee was taken and Judy’s car was parked.
A well crafted walk, ably led by Diana to whom thanks are due.
Incidentally the highest mountain in Slovenia is Triglav (9395ft).
