Rimington 04-10-2026 Leader Gill
Ramblers all met in Rimington:
Twixt road and field we all went on.
Up hill, down dale, past gorgeous house,
Through gate, o’er stile, oops! There’s some cows.
Torrid Bank Wood and White Stone Farm,
Down to Ings End, we did no harm.
Lovely Side Lane to Martin Top,
At Middop Hall we had our stop.
Twelve noon for lunch, not one complaint.
No one too hungry, no one faint.
This was the top, all down from now on.
The views were great; where was the sun?
Onwards to Gazegill we then sped.
Piglets and ducks! “Watch where you tread!”
Past Newby Hall, along to Stopper Lane,
Then we were back to the cars again.
Stats: 6.5 miles
Write up: Gill with apologies to Isaac Watts (who wrote the words to the hymn ‘Jesus will reign’ in 1719), to Frances Duckworth for taking a few musical liberties with his hymn tune written in 1904, and to anyone who notices my lapses of grammar in the above write up (put it down to artistic licence). You should be to sing my write up – I reckon it works!
With no official camera, Gill D volunteered to take photos, topped up with those from Sue and Chris (and me) – thank you all.
A huge thank you to Glyn for doing a great job of back marking – corralling folk through Gazegill wasn’t easy!
As usual this walk was made by the group itself. It’s a great pleasure to lead such a wonderful set of walkers.
Slideshow below but if you wish to see a static view of all the pics in one go, then click here.

Brilliant walk and brilliant pics.
Gill is into recycling, so she should be pleased that the next couple of lines have been used by me before.
Gill, you’re a pain, I’ll say it again.
You’re a pain, you’re a pain, you’re a pain!!
I love Gill to bits, but she gets on my tits,
When she does her write up in verse.
It means I’ve to ponder, how to respond to her,
After an evening of booze.
I can certainly confirm, that the ground was nice and firm,
On today’s lovely meander.
We saw Pendle Hill, just missed Twiston Mill,
And saw the views in full glory.
The chat it was great, I sat with Gill #2 as I ate,
And everything went just to plan.
I must reiterate that our group is so great,
It makes Sundays like this sublimate.
Gill does us proud, I’ll say it aloud,
She is great, she is great, she is great!!
Gill I’m loving the poetry write up. The walk was also lovely.
