Sunday 8 November – Bradley Fold

On Sunday 8th November, Judy (07729396803) will lead a Grade 2 walk of just under 6 miles with 340 feet of ascent and no stiles. The walk will commence at 10am from the small car park off Browns Road, Bradley Fold, Ainsworth P/C BL2 6QB

w3w   odds.sleep.client    SD756086   53.573858   -2.2.369674   There is also road side parking on Browns Road. Most will access it by turning left off the A58 into Radcliffe Moor Road (signed A665 Radcliffe and just after the Radcliffe Masonic Hall). Browns Road is first on the right and the car park a little way along on the right. See red pin on map below.

This is a fairly flat walk on mostly easy paths incorporating a disused railway line, a canal towpath, woodland, some pavement and a bit of farmland. There is a little mud but not much. The walk includes some of the Rotary Way, Moses Country Park, the rivers Croal and Irwell, Nob End and the Meccano Bridge,  and some of the Bury Bolton and Manchester Canal including the ongoing repair of the previously breached bank – a fascinating must if you haven’t been there since the repair started. This is a little more urban than some other walks, but there’s plenty to delight!

Please wear sensible shoes or boots, as well as a waterproof jacket in case of rain, and bring plenty of water to drink.  There will be one sandwich stop.

This walk is free, but after 3 walks with us you are asked to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.75 per month for an individual, or £5.08 for joint membership.

Please note the following important points:

  • Prior booking is mandatory via this link. This enables walk leaders to organise their walk in line with the number attending.
  • Each individual walker must be on a separate booking, but if a walker does not have an email address, a friend or family member can book them on using their own email.
  • Booking closes one hour before the walk starts.

If you have any queries about coming on this walk, please contact the walk leader on the number above.  If you have booked on and are unable to attend, please inform the walk leader before the start of the walk.

Safety: We very much welcome new walkers with us, but would ask you to contact the leader beforehand to discuss the demands of the walk and what you need to bring.  If you are at all unsure of your capabilities, then we suggest you try one of our shorter walks – see Walks Schedule for details.  Please note our safeguarding policy regarding children and vulnerable adults, and note also that dogs are only allowed on our 2 hour pub walks.

This map is very interactive – you can move the map around and zoom in or out.
