Wednesday 21 October – Barrow Bridge

On Wednesday 21 October, Judy (07729396803) will lead a Grade 3 walk of 9.5 miles with just under 1500 feet of ascent, 4 stiles and some steps. The walk will start at 10am from the free Woodland Trust Barrow Bridge car park, Barrow Bridge Road, Moss Bank, Bolton  BL1 7NH.  w3w  held.shift.thigh       SD 687117   53.601762   -2.473828.  It is  best accessed from Moss Bank Way and Moss Lane – see red pin on map below.

The walk includes the Old Links Golf Course, Yate Fold, Montcliffe Quarry, Two Lads, the Winter Hill Mass Trespass Monument, Dean Mills Reservoir and Walker Fold. There are good paths, moorland, woodland, pastureland, and quiet lanes. There will also be extensive views, some mud and some lying water, all depending on the day’s weather.

This walk is free, but after 3 walks with us you are asked to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.75 per month for an individual, or £5.08 for joint membership. Concessionary rates are £2.63

Please note the following important points:

  • Prior booking is mandatory via this link. This enables walk leaders to organise their walk in line with the number attending.
  • Each individual walker must be on a separate booking, but if a walker does not have an email address, a friend or family member can book them on using their own email.
  • Booking closes one hour before the walk starts.

If you have any queries about coming on this walk, please contact the walk leader on the number above. If you have booked on and are unable to attend, please inform the walk leader before the start of the walk.

Safety: We very much welcome new walkers with us, but would ask you to contact the leader beforehand to discuss the demands of the walk and what you need to bring. If you are at all unsure of your capabilities, then we suggest you try one of our shorter walks – see Walks Schedule for details.  Please note our safeguarding policy regarding children and vulnerable adults, and note also that dogs are only allowed on our 2 hour pub walks.

This map is very interactive – you can move the map around, zoom in or out, or click ‘View larger map’ for printing and/or getting directions.
