Sat 22nd Aug – pub walk from Golf Kingdom, Marl Pits

On Saturday 22nd August, Diana (07837 162890) will lead a 2 hour Grade 1 pub walk from Rawtenstall.  The walk will start at 10.30am from the dog-friendly Golf Kingdom, Marl Pits, Newchurch Rd, Rawtenstall, BB4 7SN – red pin on map below.   Drive straight up past the Leisure Centre building and past the rugby pitches to the golf car park.

This walk takes us gently upwards before turning right, walking at an easier gradient towards Seat Naze. There is an option (should anyone wish to do so, to make the short ascent to the summit). We continue round Seat Naze and walk towards (but not as far as) Whitewell Bottom before turning back for our return to the car park at Golf Kingdom.

The walk will finish by 12.30 or so, after which those who wish can retire to the restaurant for refreshments and/or lunch.  The menu is here, and Diana will take orders before we start the walk.

The paths are mostly good, but some mud is possible, so please wear sensible shoes or boots, as well as a waterproof jacket in case of rain, and bring plenty of water to drink.

This walk is free, but after 3 walks with us you are asked to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.75 per month for an individual, or £5.08 for joint membership.

Please note the following important points:

  • Prior booking is mandatory via this link. This enables walk leaders to organise their walk in line with the number attending.
  • Each individual walker must be on a separate booking, but if a walker does not have an email address, a friend or family member can book them on using their own email.
  • Booking closes one hour before the walk starts.

If you want to bring a dog, you must ring the walk leader in advance to discuss.  You should also read the Dog Walking Code and be aware that any problems caused by your dog are not covered by the Ramblers insurance policy.

If you have any other queries about coming on this walk, please contact the walk leader on the number above.  If you have booked on and are unable to attend, please inform the walk leader before the start of the walk.

Safety: We very much welcome new walkers with us, but if you are unsure about your ability to do the walk, then please contact the leader beforehand to discuss the demands of the walk and what you need to bring.  Also please note our safeguarding policy regarding children and vulnerable adults.
