Members who have passed away – Ian Tattersall
Ian Tattersall, an ex-member of Rossendale Ramblers, died on 9th May aged 85.
Ian joined the group in the 1990’s and soon became an active member and walk leader. Later he became Chairman, and he undertook his duties diligently. He would step in and lead a walk if there was a gap in the calendar – he knew loads of walks!
Ian loved the outdoors, walking in the countryside and the social aspect of being with friends. He was good company, and had a sense of fun and adventure. He was fascinated by mechanical things found on walks: old tractors and rusty farm implements often caught his eye – different versions of Stop and Stares than today.
Ian will be fondly remembered as a kind, modest man who was valued by all who knew him.

Ian used to own DCL garage in Cloughfold and was a good motor mechanic. His hand written invoice went into great detail of everything he had done including oiling the door hinges.
