Walmersley Post Office – 12-/04/2026 – Leader Glyn Beck
Ten walkers met near Walmersley post office, after I had given a brief detail of the route and what we could expect. We had the group photo and then set off up Walmersley Old road and up past Leaks farm to pass under the M66 Motorway, where we continued up towards Buckhusrt Farm. As we arrived at Bentley lane it was apparent that work had been going on to expose an old mill, previously engulfed by trees and foliage. We carried on up to Buckhurst Farm, before turning left up to Lower Ridshaw farm and into a Hail Stone Storm, but it soon past and we all dried out nicely. From here we made our way to Marshall’s Quarry and then down towards Ramsbottom and Nuttall Park and our lunch break, after lunch we made our way to Summerseat passing the worksite that united utilities is working on. In Summerseat we made our throught the village and along the side of the railway line before passing under it and then over it a bit further along. From here it was a short it was a 20 minute walk back to the cars.
