10 ramblers met at the Royd Lane car park, Ripponden. We were pleased to welcome Lee, Linda, Vicky and Tom to their first walk with the Rossendale Ramblers.
The group crossed the River Ryburn at Old Bridge before climbing to join the Calderdale Way onto Norland Moor and Greetland Moor, including a visit to the trig point. We then passed through North Dean Woods, following the disused railway line and bridge to Little Bradley. After a short section through residential streets the route continued alongside Black Brook to Barkisland, passing Barkisland Hall and Holroyd Hall before returning to Ripponden via Fiddle Lane.
The weather alternated between rain and warm sunshine, possibly setting a record for the number of times waterproofs came on and off over the course of a single walk!
The walk was just over 11 miles with1700 feet of ascent.
Thanks to Bernie for backmarking and Vince for taking photographs.

Yes- least said soonest mended! 40% of new walkers on a walk must be a record!
It’s nice to see new faces.
I’m also impressed by probably the shortest write up from this group. I’ll make up for it on Sunday ?
I always think concisecis good!
