Rylstone – 29th April – Leader Jean

The day promised to be lovely, blue skies and sunshine all day. We followed Chapel Lane towards Cracoe, passing through the village towards Threaplands House Farm, where we stopped to look into a barn full of pigs!

 

Elevenses were enjoyed, in the shelter of Langerton Hill ,it had become quite breezy. After elevenses we continued through fields, crossing several easy stiles, towards Linton Linton is such a pretty village with Alms Houses, a pub and places to sit, so an early lunch was taken.

 

After lunch and a short stretch along a quiet road, we joined Moor Lane. We followed this Lane over Linton Moor to Hamerton Hill, before joining and crossing Boss Moor Lane. From here we had wonderful views of Embsay Moor, with Rylstone Cross and the Obelisk, another good walk to enjoy in the future. We could also see Winterburn Reservoir and Pendle Hill, in the distance.

 

At this point we joined the bridleway leading us to the Dale’s Highway, which we followed all the way down to our last village, Hetton. From here it was a short walk back to Rylstone and our cars.
