Wednesday 28th October – Watergrove Reservoir Circuit
On Wednesday 28th October, Alex (07871-588924) will lead a 9.5 mile walk, Grade 3 with approx. 1315ft of ascent. Starting at 10.00am from the top of Whitworth Rake just past Lobden Golf Club, Whitworth Rake, Whitworth, Rochdale OL12 8XJ. SD892175, 53.654072, -2.1640143, 53°39?15?N , 002°09?50?. The walk starts with the short ascent Brown Wardle followed by Middle Hill then over Crook Hill, with its sad memorial, before descending toward Watergrove past “Ridleys House”. Then over the dam and on to Rhydings Dam and the valley of Fanny Brook. Passing north of Syke we visit the Healey Stones, not as old as you might think, and then the rocks carved with quotes next to Hamer Pasture Res (dry). It’s a short walk then past Brownhouse Wham Res back to the cars.
This walk is free, but after 3 walks with us you are asked to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.75 per month for an individual, or £5.08 for joint membership.
