Wednesday 7th October – Porstmouth, Hoofstones, Noah Dale & Bridestones.

On Wednesday 7th October, Alex (07871 588924) will lead a 10 mile walk, grade 4, 1841 feet of ascent and 2 trig points.  The walk will start at 10.00am  just before the level crossing gates, on Station Parade, Portsmouth, Calderdale, Post Code OL14 8PB. SD899263. 53.733229 , -2.154351. 53°44?00?N , 002°09?16?W. What3Words ladder.timeless.chatters.  – red pin on map below. Parking is either on Station Parade, side streets nearby the main road or a parking area next to a garage colony.

Crossing the railway, we ascend via Pudsey Clough, following the county and borough boundaries and the Burnley Way to reach Kebs Road aka The Long Causeway. A short walk along the road takes us to the start of the path onto Hoofstones Height and its trig point. At 3 miles in, the majority of ascent is behind us. A walk along Noah Dale brings us to Dukes Cut a track that leads to the Bridestones and the second trig point of the day. Following various tracks and paths we now gradually descend back to Portsmouth via Shore.

This walk is free, but after 3 walks with us you are asked to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.75 per month for an individual, or £5.08 for joint membership. Concessionary rates are £2.63

Please note the following important points:

  • Prior booking is mandatory via this link. This enables walk leaders to organise their walk in line with the number attending.
  • Each individual walker must be on a separate booking, but if a walker does not have an email address, a friend or family member can book them on using their own email.
  • Booking closes one hour before the walk starts.

If you have any queries about coming on this walk, please contact the walk leader on the number above. If you have booked on and are unable to attend, please inform the walk leader before the start of the walk.

Safety: We very much welcome new walkers with us, but would ask you to contact the leader beforehand to discuss the demands of the walk and what you need to bring. If you are at all unsure of your capabilities, then we suggest you try one of our shorter walks – see Walks Schedule for details.  Please note our safeguarding policy regarding children and vulnerable adults, and note also that dogs are only allowed on our 2 hour pub walks.
