Park in a layby on A679 Accrington Road. Nearest postcode is BB11 5QF. Coords 53.783605 -2.290747. Park facing the fence or reversing in to make sure we can all fit in.
After a short walk along the road we’ll cross the M65 (on a bridge) and walk for as short way along the canal and onto the Greenway, a disused railway line. Turning left we pass behind houses and after crossing fields we reach the canal again which takes us into Hapton. Another short road walk takes us back across the railway and M65 to fields again, through farms and on to follow Green Brook through woodland. This is the site of Hapton Valley Pit, closed in 1982 and now almost totally unrecognisable af a former coal mine.
This walk is free, but after 3 walks with us you are asked to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.75 per month for an individual, or £5.08 for joint membership.
