A hat-trick of path clearances!!!

A hat-trick of path clearances!!!

A couple of days ago – and in a single morning – Malcolm, David C, and Steve S cleared not one, but 3 paths – the first at Fearns Moss, Edgeside Side Lane, the second at the rear of the Co-op, Waterfoot, and the thirf at Whitewell Bottom, Height Top Farm.  The pics below show before and after at the Fearns Moss site.

In the last day or so, Malcolm and Harry have carried our a massive clearance job on a very overgrown path at Townsend Fold.  We all know how our gardens have grown recently, so it is no surprise to see the extent of the growth on this path, making it daunting – if not impossible – to traverse.

In the middle of November, an intrepid team consisting of David C, Harry, Derrick and Malcolm cleared a long stretch of path between the Dog Kennel on the A681 to the A682 by-pass.  Apologies for the late publication of this excellent effort.

Following hard on the heels of the clearance of a path at Balladen, Malcolm, Harry, and Dave C have cleared a very overgrown path at a gate near Pinners Road, above Crawshawbooth.

The clearance work that Malcolm and his team carry out nicely complements the stile and gate improvements work led by Danny.  Although it seems as though we have two different teams, in fact our doughty volunteers work on both, to their great credit.

The recent sponsorship from Rossendale Rotary materially assists in this work, especially in the provision of additional tools and protective equipment to make the work easier and safer for the teams.

Not to be outdone, our footpath clearance team recently spent a couple of days clearing a very overgrown path near the children’s home at Balladen.  I believe there were at least 4 people involved, including team leader Malcolm, Diana, David C, and Harry.  An excellent job was done, and I hear a whisper that there are more clearances to come.

On Thursday 27 June, David C and Malcolm vigorously attacked a footpath at Hareholme Lane, off Newchurch Road, making it much easier to use for all, as you will see below.
